I had the opportunity to attend a 3-day Investor Seminar in Santa Clara earlier
this month. I joined this seminar since it was organized by Optionetics,
a different education company from Investools. I want to experience
option trading strategy from a different perspective other than from what
I have learned.
During the 3-day conference, I attended numerous 90-minute sessions
about option trading. There are other sessions about futures and currency
trading but I mainly focused on option trading this time. Unlike the
previous two conferences I attended with Investools, this conference has
a much more advanced group of option traders coming not only from the
United States but from foreign countries as well. Among them, the
Australians are the predominant. Other foreigners include Canadians,
Malaysians and Singaporeans. From my conversation with them, I
believe they are serious traders. They told me they took classes at their
home countries but they come here for the annual conference since there
are not enough students to form the conference over there. I realize how
lucky I am to be in this country so I don’t have to travel far for this
kind of learning opportunity.
I believe I know quite a bit about option strategy but attending
this conference makes me realize there are a lot more to learn. There is
always room for improvement. It is amazing how much we can do with the
combination of selling and/or buying calls and puts option. There were
several interesting subjects I missed due to scheduling conflict so I
decided to come up here again next year.
After the conference ended, I stayed one more extra day in San Jose to spend
time with my Khai Minh classmates. We had a good time having dinner and
chatting with each others.
